RYLA
RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
RYLA is a week-end of leadership training and fun activities for high school students. The RYLA week-end for Rotary District 7040 has been held in Kingston in 2018, 2019, and online in 2020 due to Covid. In 2023, RYLA was again an in-person experience for students held at RKY Camp on Eagle Lake, about 45 minutes north of Kingston.
The Rotary Club of Kingston-Frontenac is proud to have been able to sponsor a number of local high school students for this amazing week-end.
RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (2023)
About 34 high-school students from around District 7040 got together on the May 23-25 weekend for the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) experience. The Kingston-area clubs sent 13 students to RYLA this year, including David Polk (pictured here on arrival), a Grade 9 student at Frontenac Secondary School. Other students from Montreal, Ottawa & the Valley and Eastern Ontario as well as 4 students from Potsdam, NY all enjoyed a great weekend weatherwise to take advantage of the the outstanding amenities at RKY Camp, which complemented an agenda offering leadership development training and exercises for the students.
RYLA 2020
Thanks to Rotarian Paul Ellsley from the Rotary Club of Kingston and Rotaract members from Kingston, Ottawa and Montreal for putting together an online RYLA for 2020 on 29-31 May. This edition was held online due to the COVID-19 social distancing rules. Despite the challenges, there was a large number of participants and all were excited about the friends they met and what they were able to learn and accomplish during this extraordinary week-end.
