Lake Effect Robotics - Update

Hey Everyone !

I would like to provide an update to Sponsors after our first tournament at Durham College in Oshawa this past weekend.

I have included a picture of the Lake Effect Robotics Team at our first competition.

We started off a bit slow with our robot performance on Saturday but continued to build success as the day went along.  However, during the last match on Saturday our arm gearbox broke and, although it took 3 hours to fix, we never missed a match.

On Sunday:

  • we worked hard to be a “feeder bot” and demonstrate strong defence over the last 4 matches.
  • Our team was recognized as a Safety ALL-STAR for the 2nd day of competition for demonstrating strong safety initiatives while working in our pit and planned readiness if an accident did occur.
  • We made the playoffs and were selected by the 6th Alliance captain.  Unfortunately, both of our alliance partners had mechanical issues during both playoff matches.
  • The team showed great problem solving skills and cooperation throughout the tournament.
  • At the awards ceremony, Team 2708 won the Team Imagery Award for our team brand recognition and the incorporation of this year's theme  throughout our pit, robot, team safety and team member attire.

Our next competition is this coming weekend at Nippising University in North Bay.  Will keep you posted how things go.

Thanks for all of your support this season.
