Dear Friends,
I returned back from snowy Colorado in time for the March Board Meeting this past Wednesday. In addition, I attended the meeting of our International Service Committee at Greta's and will attend, next Tuesday, the Kingston International Service Committee meeting (chaired by Douglas).
We continue to fill out our slate of Directors for next year under President-elect Arja, with Trevor taking over the Treasurer position (from John Evans) and M-C agreeing to take over the Club Service position (from Don Taylor). I have agreed to serve as Foundation Chair next year (taking over from Trevor). We still need a President-elect nominee (serving as President in 2025-26) as well as a Ways and Means Director, as Aggie will be stepping back from Rotary at the end of this year.
Speaking of Ways and Means, we continue to raise funds to support our Youth and Community Service projects through volunteering at Bingos. In addition, for our annual Spring fundraiser, Aggie is arranging our first-ever Murder Mystery night on Saturday, April 27. "The Crushed Candy Affair" will be held at the Renaissance Supper Club and includes a full 3-course dinner and Silent Auction. Invite your friends for a great evening out! We have increased our "Service above Self" Scholarships to $1000 each at 5 local high schools and will look forward to making a $2500 contribution to purchase playground equipment for the new inclusive playground.
The new Bingo schedule for 2024-25, starting in April, is on the web-site under its own tab. Please pick some dates and contact Aggie or Don Polk to get your name on your preferred time slot.
Finally, in recognition of past Kingston-Frontenac club contributions to St. Lawrence College, our next Monthly Pub night will be held at their on-campus pub, St. Larry's, on Wednesday, April 3. On tap is a fun evening of fellowship plus a tour of the new facilities, which include a classroom space named in honour of our Rotary club.
Please think of bringing a friend to any of our Rotary meetings or events. As people in our club move on to other interests, we need to be constantly inviting new members to keep the club vibrant and interesting. This is everyone’s responsibility, so please get out there and invite your friends.
Peter
