January 21, 2026

  1. Approval of minutes of December17, 2025 meeting
    • Motion:  Jennifer / 2nd:  Elaine
  2. Business arising - none
  3. Treasury Update (Trevor)
    • Mid-year financials thru December 31, 2025 sent out previously
      • no highlights to report
      • RI invoice for Semester 2 paid mid-January by Trevor
      • M-C to meet offline with Trevor to align on Club Operations expenses booked YTD
  4. Bingo Update (Don P)
    •  All assigned Bingo shifts for current Bingo year 2025-26 are covered (thru March 31, 2026)
      • thanks to all Bingo volunteers for their invaluable volunteerism
      • possibility of extra shifts in Feburary/ March; however, 3 new charities added in January
      • license renewal for 2026-27 was submitted on time to the City of Kingston in December as required
        •  response expected in late February/ early March
    • Plan to schedule the Apr 29 Pub Night @ The Social YGK to recognize partnership with Play! Charitable Gaming Association
      • cheque presentation from PGCA to Club with funds total for current Bingo year 2025-26
  5. Community Service Committee (Jennifer)
    • nothing new to report - first Committee meeting of 2026 scheduled February 4
    • Don P reported Rotary blood donor performance was down 19% in 2025 to 69 units
      • need for more donors - Kingston-area Rotary donor group is down 21% over prior year to 26
  6. International Service Committee (Don P for Douglas)
    • District Matching Grant project in Thailand at Mae Tao Clinic is now ocmplete as final equipment arrived in January 2026
      • Rotary recognition event at MTC was held on January 14/15 with Don P, Elaine and Greta on the Zoom call
      • final report needs to be filed - now in ClubRunner.  The previous district website was deleted
  7. Youth/ Vocational Service Committee (Don P)
    • Club will sponsor 2 Long-Term Exchange students in 2026-27
      • Leo from LCVI & Sebastian from Regi
      • subject to each student submitting 3 host family nominations for incoming students
      • no students for Short Term Exchange in summer 2026
    • Adventure in Citizenship (in Ottawa May 2026) - student recruited
    • No news yet on RYLA for 2026 - no coordinator listed on District website.  Will it happen?
  8. Membership (Randy)
    • Club membership considered "stable" following resignation of Catherine
    • Currently no iminent prospects
    • District focus for growth on Satellite clubs - none in the Kingston area
  9. Ways & Means - Fundraising (John M. / Trevor)
    • Movie Night fundraiser - "A Night to Remember"
      • Feb 18, 2026 at Priovidence Motherhouse
      • potential to raise $1,200 in "unencumbered funds" if all tickets are sold
        • Elaine suggested further discussion on where these funds may be applied
  10. Various external requests for service & financial support (Elaine et al)
    • Elaine to filter which ones will be transmitted to membership
    • Request for interest from Brockville via DG to develop a literacy project  ("Bibliotherapists") in the district
      • for those members passionate about reading and talking
    • Jennifer received request for support for the Frontenac Lennox & Addington Science Fair (March 26-27, 2026)
      • in addition to financial support, an opportunity for special subject prizes and judging
      • M-C is an interested volunteer for judging - as Don P, Catherine and Elsabe did last year
    • Elaine raised the idea of arranging a visit to the new St Vincent de Paul facility
      • M-C following up
    • DG request for each club to prepare a short, fun video for presenation at DisCon
      • various ideas discussed - montage using photos already taken, videos from members, etc.
      • Don P to coordinate technical support from Bayridge Secondary School students needing volunteer hours
  11. 60th Anniversary Update (Elaine)
    • Official club charter date confirmed in Rotary records is April 21, 1966; first meeting held on May 4, 1966
    • Proposal to have 60th Anniversary event on April 22 - currently an open date on the club calendar
      • no conflict with District Conference (Apr 24-26)
      • various ideas mentioned needing further development
        • Tree planting at Rotary Park ($600) needs ongoing support to watering the sapling, or a bench ($1,000)
        • other ideas such as City Proclamation, Rotary flag raised at City Hall
          • is a 60th anniversary sufficiently significant to justify?
        • commemorative swag TBD
